In this conceptual image dating from 2002, initial designs were for the generator to be integrated into the housing of the
of an individual unit. This design was a circumferential generator. Although there are some advantages to having
a generator of this type, especially in an array design, the first and second prototypes used standard off of the shelf
generators that could cheaply communicate the proof of concept. At a later date, circumferential generators will be revisited.

In this conceptual image dating from 2002, a kinetic hydropower turbine array is shown with circumferential generators integrated into the housing
of each unit. |
