OCEAN ENERGY

It is well known that oceans cover more than 70% of the Earth's surface. Ocean energy covers a series of technologies that use the power of ocean currents, waves and tides to create renewable energy. While very few ocean energy technologies have been deployed on a commercial scale, they show much promise for future development.

Ocean waters are always moving. Ocean currents flow in patterns affected by the wind, water salinity and temperature, topography of the ocean floor and the earth's rotation. Ocean currents are relatively constant and flow in one direction only, in contrast to the tidal currents. Some examples of ocean currents are the Gulf Stream, Florida Straits Current and California Current. Ocean currents contain an enormous amount of energy that can be converted into clean, renewable electricity.

Hydro Green Energy is presently exploring several ocean power projects that would generate electricity through ocean currents. At its ocean current projects, Hydro Green Energy will deploy the broadly patented technology that is uses for its river and tidal projects.
